Would you or I have this kind of courage?

This courageous young woman Marie Cardon defended the truth at the risk of her own life.

Would you or I have that kind of faith or courage?

Bonnie Oscarson is the voice we hear in the video:

"If it is the Lord’s plan, it should also be our plan! ... The Lord needs us to be brave, steadfast, and immovable warriors who will defend His plan and teach the upcoming generations His truths" (Bonnie Oscarson, "Defenders of the Family Proclamation," Ensign, May 2015).

Her story reminds me of President Monson's experience of daring to stand alone.

As we get closer to the Second Coming, we're likely to have more moments where we must stand alone in defending truth.

Each time we practice choosing right even when it's not popular, our ability to choose the unpopular right becomes stronger. It helps to remember to look up, not sideways. We want to be on God's side of the line, no matter what anyone around us chooses.

Are our kids being raised in real life or virtual life? It's an important choice.

Wow, this is sad. This struggle is real.

We are the first generation to raise children in this age of portable digital devices. We must be careful and deliberate, both for ourselves and our children.

Also, did you know that the electromagnetic frequencies emitted by these devices are damaging, and that the frequency of the earth is really good for your body?

God is so smart.

Elder Stevensen's foibles... nobody is perfect, so let's not compare!

Oh my goodness, this had me laughing so hard!

video

It's tempting to compare ourselves to what appears to be others' picture perfect lives.

But this clip of Elder Stevenson's recent keynote address at BYU Women's Conference 2017 is so true to life, at how imperfect life really is, and that we don't need to compare ourselves with others' lives that may look perfect on social media. But now we know better. I love it!

Talk #4 of 12 -- Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge, by Richard G. Scott

This is a series of my favorite takeaways of some powerhouse talks we are studying together in my Facebook group called 12 Talks in 12 Weeks.

Elder Scott has mentored me in many ways for many years, even though I've never met him in this life.

I did have the honor of attending his funeral. When I get to the other side of the veil, I'm really excited to give him a big hug and thank him for changing the way I pray, the way I ask for and receive and record personal revelation, the way I teach, the way I study, the way I look for principles. I love this man, and love all that he teaches me! I have a manila folder collection of my favorite talks by Elder Scott. I'll likely keep adding to it as I study others.

Mormon Ad Contest Entries and Winner! "Before tech...connect!"

Thank you to everyone who entered the contest! Here are the entries, and the winner is announced at the end. It was hard to choose!

Tammy Zufelt- Thomas

These pictures I took at the Salt Lake Temple and Visitors Center make me feel so connect to Christ, and remember covenants, unconditional Love and acceptance, they tell me I am enough right where I am, and that I can continue to come to him and grow in Christ....(the picture of praying/scriptures is from the internet). When I saw you doing this, It prompted me to find this photo on my computer again and I felt so much hope when I did, it was something I REALLY needed this week, so thank you for the push! This isn't really Mormon ad(ish) but it was a nice reminder to me anyway. Can't wait to see what others do, and see who wins your lovely gift!
Oléa Gough

Becky Edwards, I love your slogan about connecting with God before anything else! As I thought about what spending time in my scriptures does for me more than any social media or technology can do I just kept thinking how as I read and pray and spend time with Him it's like getting a heavenly hug. My scriptures are like love letters to me. They are a way I can connect with Him and open up a conduit for Him to connect with me. Suddenly I remembered this picture that someone posted last week (sorry, I can't remember who it was) but I think it is the PERFECT image to go with your slogan! I'm so grateful to the woman who shared it because it has lingered in my mind since the time I saw it.

Talks #5 of 12 -- Mothers Who Know, by Julie B. Beck, and Fathers by D. Todd Christofferson

This is a series of my favorite takeaways of some powerhouse talks we are studying together in my Facebook group called 12 Talks in 12 Weeks. We're taking the rest of the summer off from posting new talks, to give people time to catch up and post their favorite parts from any of the 12 talks. Then in the fall we'll start back up again with another 12 talks!

This time we read two talks, one for mothers and one for fathers!

"Mothers Who Know" by Julie Beck:

"Fathers" by Elder Christofferson

Here is a video of my favorite takeaways from these two talks.

Here is a blog post I wrote about a moment I shared in this video of thinking, "She is valuable and I am not."

Here are some quote memes about the motherhood talk.

Here are some quote memes about the fatherhood talk.

I love this happy picture of a daddy dancing with his daughter. Wonderful!

Click here for a post of recent Edwards' family pictures, capturing the joy of family. Here is one favorite pic.

Here is my hubby Mike, who babysat our three grand daughters so their mom and I could attend the temple. He walked the three girls to run a quick errand at Wal-mart several blocks away. I told him he gets the Father of the Year award for that!

Celebrating Mother's Day with Recent Family Pics

I'm a photo girl. Everyone who knows me well knows I love taking pictures. I spent some time on Mother's Day enjoying recent family pics and gathering them into a blog post that celebrates family. Since our eldest child, Malia, is going through a divorce, she and her girls moved in a couple months ago, and these pics are from the last couple months.

I told Mike he gets Grandpa of the Year award for this! He babysat the three grand daughters so we could attend the temple, and walked them several blocks for an errand at Wal-mart. At the temple I kept finding myself smiling thinking of this adorable scene.

Watching my teenage boys love their cute nieces melts my heart!

Grace presented at a Female Entrepreneur Conference at Thanksgiving Point the day before her 18th birthday!

Grace takes a selfie with little Claire every morning! She has lived with us from being two months old and is now four months old, so it's fun that she has a daily log of her growth.

Mike and Grace both gave short presentations at my first Powered with Purpose retreat in Utah County.
